Track Name: Ziggurat
people
apart
grow lonely and
cold and
so we flock to
shepherds
in search of
fool's gold in the
places where we
gather, seeds of
cities there are
sewn, we throw
tangled throngs of towers up to
zion
the struggle to the
promised land is our
all consuming
end
and so we claw with
fingers raw, our bloody
history is
penned
a spire of spines will
scrape the stars, though
built from our bones, this
rook transcends, and now the
bodies of the architects
with broken teeth and shredded necks
are shining in the light we had our eye on

we had torn the very sky
he, and she, and you, and i, those words that
stood between us flew and we were
one, but then
babel burned and crashed, and the
builders' bodies thrashed, they rolled in
dust to put out fires caught when
babel touched the sun, and so we
babble on, we babble on,
babylon oh babylon,
we babble on, we babble on oh.

scattered, the
people, are
speaking, in
tongues
and the planet, grows
cold, like the
time, she was
young
but though battered, covered in
dust, the
builders and the shepherds, are still
walking among us and we rise
up
we stagger back to water now, to
fill our broken cups, and we will
build
will reclaim
we will keep on raising towers 'till they
tumble down in flames, and so we
babble on, we babble on,
babylon oh babylon,
we babble on, we babble on oh
etc.
Track Name: Hurricane Girl
here's the story of hurricane girl
when she blew in to town it was heard round the world
no maiden who met her untangled her spell
she was rare, she could wear it so well

like fire from beyond she was hotter than hell
though the men never saw her, we pictured her well
and the children would flock to a space at her feet
to hear her tell stories of love in the streets

and i'll tell you how everyone met her
i'll tell you the way that she leaves in the end
she'll pull out your heart if you let her
but i'll tell you one thing we've none of us seen her again

her voice it would carry for miles on the wind
in a couple of days, well she had us all pinned
in a knot round her sly little finger
had a voice like a holiday singer

now we're still writing songs for her years down the line
she was clear as the water but sweet as the wine
no one could challenge her, she had her place
yet a shadow hid under her pretty young face

and i'll tell you how everyone met her
i'll tell you the way that she leaves in the end
she'll pull out your heart if you let her
but i'll tell you one thing we've none of us seen her again

now early one morning we rose from our beds
found a bell on her pillow in place of her head
now we've given up hope for the letter she'd write
was it all just a dream on a hot summer's night?

and i'll tell you how everyone met her
i'll tell you the way that she leaves in the end
she'll pull out your heart if you let her
but i'll tell you one thing we've none of us seen her again
Track Name: The Buffalo Song
alarm bells & sirens are sounding are sounding are sounding
and my family of travelers swiftly herded outdoors
there's rumors, and omens abounding abounding abounding
and the crackling air predicts a terrible storm

along came a shepherd to lead us to lead us to lead us
back to our homes before the
wind started blowing
the thunder and lightning in needles in needles in needles
gathers on the horizon
so we'd better be going

but i stray from the flock now
& duck into a room
& i put down a simple tune it says
the buffalo are coming home
-
the band hasn't noticed i'm missing i'm missing i'm missing
they've continued to move but i see they're not too far away
i slip back among them - we stop and we listen we listen
to the big-bellied clouds start to lose the first of the rain

& now how the rain it was falling was falling was falling
in fat heavy drops and, it was warm on our faces
we should go inside but we're stalling we're stalling we're stalling
enthralled with the sense that we're revealing new places

the locked up old door it was open was open was open
had been that way the whole year
if only we'd tried it
we know we're not sure but we're hoping we're hoping we're hoping
and whatever this wave is
we think we can ride it

but the rain starts to sharpen
and the storm's taking hold
so it's time to come in from the cold
the buffalo are coming home
-
inside now, our glasses are fogging are fogging are fogging
and the steam from the heater's seeping down into our bones
i see the old shepherd, he's slogging he's slogging he's slogging
through the barreling gale, he's on his way to his home

i duck back outside now to thank him to thank him to thank him
for braving the maelstrom, and for leading the way
a beard has sprung up like a blanket a blanket a blanket
i see steel in his eyes, although it covers his face

and i see a spot in the distance the distance the distance
it's black and it's growing, and it's rushing straight at us
the building is rocked but resistant resistant resistant
still a brother is ashes, and a window is shattered

&oh now the window was covered was covered was covered
in the bodies of the little birds that had made up the cloud
i called for my friends and my lover my lover my lover
but try as i may there's simply noone around

the stars will send through you
all the gifts that they give
o but will you lose the will to live
the buffalo are coming home
Track Name: It's Turtles All The Way Down
the
weight of the world on my
shoulders but hey someone's
back must be holding my
weight, and
though it seems hard to keep
standing this way i do
so on the shoulders of
giants. these
crumbling rocks are like
boulders to me but just
stones to a figure so
great, these
gods stand on turtles stacked
eternally all to-
-gether in constant re-
-liance. i

went to my father, up
high in his tower, i
asked him for some good ad-
-vice. i
went to my mother, deep
down in her flower, the
question beared asking it
twice. these
gears here said he turn the
hands of the clock and the
largest relies on the
smallest - the
forest said she's home to
many a tree and the
shortest is one with the
tallest. the

weight of the world on my
shoulders but hey someone's
back must be holding my
weight, and
though it seems hard to keep
standing this way i do
so on the shoulders of
giants. these
crumbling rocks are like
boulders to me but just
stones to a figure so
great, these
gods stand on turtles stacked
eternally all to-
-gether in constant re-
-liance. to
try to absorb this, the
son he was told to go
sit by the river and
pray. when i
dipped in my finger, the
water was cold and it
threatened to sweep me a-
-way.
still i laid down on the
smooth colored stones and i
felt the wind spiraling
down through my bones and the
sun in the leaves took a
silvery tone and you're
never alone, no you're never alone oh no!
Track Name: Heliocentrics
i know you, i've
seen you before - in
passing, i've glimpsed you through a
window on some
vast enchanted view, and
you are the door to this
world i've never made it
into

just beyond my reach, something
lingers in the air, like your per-
-fume, or the whirling of a
dancer, or the
waves that brush some beach, the
wind warm and fair, in your
care, i feel closer to the
answer

and when i
finally saw your face, we were at a
big bonfire you could probably see from space
and we neither of us said a word, cause we were
both of us too terrified of ruining the moment, and
up to the sky like the whirling embers
out of our fear on that smoky december night
blossomed something frighteningly bright
o the light ate up our houses
set them on fire with all our
loved ones inside
and the flames spiraled higher, in some
heliocentrical swirl for just a minute or two
i think maybe i said something to you
that you couldn't hear for all that wind
but the words that flew by didn't matter
cause we were both of us convinced we were watching something begin
